It's not just a crow…

Driving through the countryside, something catches your eye in the sky and you feel a pang of excitement because you think it might be a buzzard or a red kite. Disappointment hits when you discover […]

Thank you anger, thank you anxiety

For a long time I thought anger and anxiety were bad things. Looking back I can see that this negative belief led to me losing sight of appropriate anger and I turned it into sadness. […]

About me

I knew, from an early age, my mind worked differently from other people's. (I had this in my bio before I discovered I'm neurodivergent!) I also realised my brain and my differences could either work for me or against me. I've struggled with mental ill health and recovery has been incredibly hard. As we walk through life, all sorts of things happen to us; some are within our control, others are not. The only thing that really matters is how we think about what happens and how we respond—ultimately, these are the only things we can control. I qualified as a doctor 17 years ago and I'm now working in a counselling agency. Having worked in mental health for over 10 years I've gathered numerous insights into the workings of the mind. So my writing combines my neurodivergence, my personal and professional experiences. To unwind I enjoy being creative so I'd love it if you checked out my jewellery shop too!
